If you're an iPhone user, then I don't have to tell you about the hundreds of thousands of apps that are readily available for download. With that, I do want to highlight 6 very specific iPhone apps that I find myself using multiple times each day. These 6-apps have helped me to become a better search marketer, and I hope that they will be of use to you.
I absolutely love my iPhone, and could not imagine a world in which I didn't have access to all the information that it alone provides to me. If you're an iPhone user, then I don't have to tell you about the hundreds of thousands of apps that are readily available for download. As I do, I'm sure you already have your favorites. With that, I do want to highlight 6 very specific iPhone apps that I find myself using multiple times each day. These 6-apps have helped me to become a better search marketer, and I hope that they will be of use to you.
I use the Google app to review my client's organic and paid search listings while I'm away. For example, when I travel and need to monitor the progress of a campaign, or wish to see how Google's location parameters affect organic search rankings, I'll do so via the Google app. In fact, often at times I use it to verify the accuracy and delivery of paid search ads. To make searching easier, I utilize the app's voice recognition feature and search simply by speaking phrases into the phone.
2. Pro RSS
Pro RSS is a mobile RSS reader that users can use to quickly connect with their favorite RSS subscriptions. I use this app to stay connected with my favorite industry blogs and newsletters while I'm traveling, or whenever I should find downtime and have a few minutes to kill. Staying updated on the ins and outs of the Internet marketing industry is important, and something I enjoy taking part in. Pro RSS helps to make getting industry news easy and fast. I like Pro RSS because of it's ability to sync with Google Reader, as well as other popular RSS readers. This means not having to manage multiple RSS lists.
RedDelicious is an app that provides users with quick mobile access to all of their Delicious bookmarks. I love being able to browse and review any of my bookmarks at a moments noticed. I've bookmarked and cataloged many, many resources on Internet marketing in the form of articles, guides, how-tos, tips and strategies, research reports, and tools. I use this app to freshen up on a given topic prior to client meetings, and more so as a way to reference information again for future reading when I find downtime.
The LinkedIn app allows users to easily access their industry connections from anywhere. I use this app to quickly gather client and colleague contact information for when I am away from the office. I also find that it comes in handy when attending conferences and other industry events and I fail to remember someone that I've previously connected with. I quickly access my connections, browse the person's information, and avoid what would otherwise be an awkward situation.
Twitterific is a Twitter app that allows users to manage and update their Twitter account on the go. I primarily use this app as a way to remain social with my little community of followers, as well as to keep updated on recent industry happenings.
Skype is the preferred chat client in our office and so I use this app to stay connected with my team when I'm away on vacation or off attending search conferences. It works beautifully.
Moving forward, as mobile technology continues to improve I imagine that one day soon we could see mobile versions of PPC platforms and website editing programs – therefore allowing SEMs the ability to manage their search marketing campaigns on the fly. However, until then, these are the 6 most valuable apps (that I know of) that continue to help me be a better search marketer. What about you? What apps do you use to assist in your search marketing efforts?
